How to Pack the UPPAbaby Vista or Cruz in the Travel Bag, and How TravelSafe Covers It

An UPPAbaby pram in an aircraft hold without a bag is at your own risk: airline damage is excluded from every pram warranty, ours included. In the UPPAbaby bag it is the opposite. Register the bag before you fly and TravelSafe covers the pram against the airline. This is how the pram goes in, what fits with it, and how the cover works.

Packing the Vista or Cruz

1. Fold with the seat on

Seat upright, canopy closed, both triggers, push forward. The pram goes in folded as one piece, seat attached. Take the bumper bar off if you want a flatter pack; it is not required.

2. Wheels in first

Open the bag flat on the floor. Lay the pram in on its side with the wheels at the wheeled end of the bag. The handlebar sits towards the opening.

3. Bassinet and RumbleSeat

The bassinet goes in beside the frame, on its base, with the canopy folded down. A RumbleSeat folds flat and slides in against the bassinet. Its adapters go in the bag's inside pocket, not loose.

4. Zip, strap, tag

Zip the bag, pull the compression straps, and clip the shoulder strap. The bag has wheels at one end, so it rolls through the terminal like a suitcase. Put your name on the tag.

The Minu, and the Duo

The Minu V3 folds to carry-on size and has its own bag, which is also the bag to use if you are checking it. The Minu Duo has its own bag too. Neither takes the Vista bag; the Vista bag would swallow a Minu and let it move around, which is what breaks things.

At the airport

Most airlines let you push the pram to the gate and check it at the aircraft door, which is the best option: it spends the least time out of your sight. Carry the empty bag with you and pack at the gate. If the airline checks it at the counter, pack at home. Either way, the pram travels in the bag, or TravelSafe does not apply.

How TravelSafe works

Buy an UPPAbaby travel bag. Register it on the TravelSafe page before you fly, with the bag's serial number and the pram's. If the airline damages the pram while it is in the bag, UPPAbaby repairs it or replaces it. That is the whole program: one bag, one registration, and the risk that no warranty covers is covered.

It applies to the pram in the bag, not to the bag. The bag itself carries the standard warranty.

Questions parents ask

Does the Vista fit in the travel bag with the seat on?

Yes. Fold the Vista with the toddler seat attached and it goes in the bag as one piece. The bassinet and a RumbleSeat go in beside it, in the same bag, once you know the order.

Which travel bag do I need?

One bag fits the Vista (all versions) and the Cruz (all versions). The Minu V3 has its own smaller bag, and the Minu Duo its own. The Remi portacot has a bag too.

What is TravelSafe?

Buy an UPPAbaby travel bag, register it before you fly, and if the pram is damaged by an airline while it is in the bag, UPPAbaby repairs or replaces it. Airline damage is otherwise excluded from every pram warranty, ours included.

Can I take the pram to the gate?

Usually. Most Australian and international airlines let you push the pram to the aircraft door and check it there. Put it in the bag at the gate. Ask at check-in, because each airline sets its own rule.

Can the Mesa capsule go on the plane?

The Mesa is CASA approved for aircraft use, so it can go in a paid seat. The pram cannot; it is checked.
