Description

Kona is the pram for parents who do not want a full-size frame but need more than a travel pram. The seat is full size and reverses, the wheels are sprung and never go flat, and the whole thing weighs 9.9 kilograms. It folds in one hand with the seat attached, in either direction, and stands up on its own with a carry handle for stairs and transit. From birth, with the bassinet or the Mesa capsule attaching directly and no adapters to buy.

Safety

This pram meets the mandatory Australian requirement, Consumer Protection Notice No. 8 of 2007, and is also compliant with the voluntary standard AS 2088:2022 including Amendment 1:2024.

The mandatory standard is based on AS/NZS 2088:2000, so testing to the 2022 edition goes beyond what the law requires.

It is fully endorsed by INPAA, the Infant & Nursery Product Alliance Australia.

What that standard requires:

  • A red parking brake anyone can find
  • A five-point harness that cannot be removed
  • A wrist tether with no loop big enough to pass over a child’s head
  • A head barrier whenever the seat reclines flat for a sleeping baby

Why each of those rules exists →

UPPABABY KONA

Small pram. Big features

How you carry them

Kona carries one child. What changes is what that child rides in, and none of it needs an adapter.

Toddler seat

Reverses to face you or the world, and reclines flat for a nap. From birth, to 22.7 kg.

UPPAbaby Mesa Car Seat Capsule - Charcoal (James), carrier side extra sunshade, Mesa capsule Travel system

Mesa capsule

The Mesa clicks straight on with no adapters, so a sleeping baby goes from the car to the pram without being unbuckled.

  • UPPAbaby Mesa Car Seat Capsule - Charcoal Melange (Greyson)+ $549
Total $1,598

Kona does not take a second seat, and no accessory changes that. If a second child is likely, Vista is the frame that absorbs it.

Compact without compromise

Small enough for the aisle. Not small in the seat.

Most compact prams get small by shrinking the seat. Kona keeps a full size seat, a sprung wheel on every corner and a 13.6 kilogram basket, and finds the space in the footprint instead. 53.3 centimetres across.

The question everyone asks

Kona, or Cruz?

Both take one child from birth as sold, both carry the same basket, both take the bassinet and the Mesa without adapters. The Cruz has the Vista's seat on a larger frame. Kona is two kilograms lighter and four centimetres slimmer, and it folds with the seat on.

Answers

Before you decide

How is Kona different from the Cruz?

Kona is the lighter, slimmer everyday pram: 9.9 kg against 12, and 53.3 cm across against 57.2. The Cruz carries the Vista's seat on a larger frame. Kona is built to clear an aisle and go up a flight of stairs on your arm.

Can I use Kona from birth?

Yes. The toddler seat reclines flat, and the UPPAbaby bassinet or the Mesa capsule attach directly with no adapters.

Does the Mesa capsule fit Kona?

Yes, directly, with no adapters. Maxi-Cosi, Nuna and Joie capsules fit with the Kona car seat adapters, sold separately.

How small does it fold?

34.0 by 53.3 by 65.5 cm with the seat still attached. It folds in one hand from standing, whichever way the seat is facing, and then stands up on its own.

Global brand, local shopfront

The best prams are chosen by hand. Go and push one.

50+ Countries

Families in more than fifty countries choose UPPAbaby. The engineering is proven a long way beyond one market.

180+ Australian stockists

Authorised retailers around the country, so you can push it, fold it and lift it into a boot before you spend anything.

3+ Years of support

Three year warranty, then lifetime service support. Bring it in and we strip it, check it and adjust it.

Before you buy

Will it fit your boot?

Measure the opening of your boot, not the space inside it. The opening is what stops a pram going in.

This compares the folded pram against your boot opening as if both were rectangles. Real boots have wheel arches and sloping lids. Treat a close result as a reason to go and try it, not a promise.
