No Flame Retardant Chemicals

All UPPAbaby prams are free from added flame retardant chemicals on any materials that come into direct contact with your child. UPPAbaby was one of the first brands in the world to achieve this, meeting required flammability standards through the use of inherently fire-resistant materials and advanced fabric engineering, not chemical coatings.

What is PFAS, and why does it matter?

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a group of synthetic chemicals that have historically been used to make fabrics water and stain resistant. They're sometimes called "forever chemicals" because they don't break down easily in the environment, and research has raised concerns about their potential effects on human health over time.

Many baby product brands still use PFAS in their fabrics. UPPAbaby has worked to eliminate them.

All UPPAbaby strollers and fabrics are now PFAS-free, meaning your baby's seat, canopy and fabrics have not been treated with these chemicals. Water resistance is achieved through safer alternative treatments.

GREENGUARD Gold Certified

UPPAbaby strollers, the RumbleSeat, car seats and in-home gear are all GREENGUARD Gold Certified.

GREENGUARD Gold is one of the most rigorous third-party chemical emissions certifications in the world. It tests for over 10,000 chemicals and VOCs (volatile organic compounds, which are gases released from certain materials into the air). Products that earn GREENGUARD Gold certification meet strict limits on these emissions, to a standard considered acceptable for use in schools and healthcare facilities.

In plain terms: an independent organisation has tested UPPAbaby products and confirmed that they release minimal chemicals into the air around your baby.

REACH Certified Leather

UPPAbaby's premium full-grain leather accents, including handlebar grips and bumper bar details, are REACH certified.

REACH is a European Union regulation that restricts the use of hazardous chemicals in manufacturing. For leather specifically, REACH certification means the tanning process is carefully managed to limit harmful chemical inputs, and the tanneries that supply UPPAbaby undergo regular, rigorous chemical compliance testing to maintain that status.

UPPAbaby's leathers are also chrome-free and sourced from LWG Gold-certified facilities. The Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold certification is awarded to tanneries that meet the highest standards for environmental performance, water use, energy, and chemical management.
