A practical guide to the first year with a bouncer and a highchair, using the new Mira V2 and Ciro V2 as the worked examples.
The first year changes quickly. In the early weeks you want somewhere safe and snug to put your baby down for a few minutes while you make a cup of tea. A few months later, the questions are all about food: where will they sit, how will you clean up, and will they join the rest of the family at the table?
UPPAbaby's new Mira V2 bouncer and Ciro V2 highchair are made for those two stages. Here is how to think about each one, and what to look for whichever you choose.
The early weeks: a bouncer that keeps baby close
A bouncer is a floor-level place for an awake, supervised baby. It lets you wash your hands, answer the door or eat something warm without carrying them from room to room. It is not a bed. Mira V2 is not for infant sleep, and like any bouncer it should be used on the floor only, never on a raised surface, always with the harness done up.
What to look for in a bouncer
- Whether it needs power. Mira V2 needs no batteries and no plugs. It rocks gently in response to your baby's own movement, so you can move it from the lounge to the kitchen without a cord.
- A snug fit from day one. Mira V2 suits babies from birth (2.7 kg) and comes with a plush newborn insert in the box.
- Easy to carry, easy to store. It has an integrated carry handle and a fold flat mode for storage or travel.
- Fabrics you can clean. The breathable mesh fabrics are removable and machine washable, which matters more than you think.
- How long you will use it. Mira V2 works in three modes: Snuggle for newborns, Play with the Wonder Wheel Toy Bar, and Toddler, where you flip the seat for a child up to 13 kg.
Around four months: a highchair that joins the table
Most babies are ready to start solids from around six months, but they often show an interest in what is on your plate before that. Whenever you begin, a highchair that sits at the table keeps mealtimes social. Always follow the age and development guidance for your child, and speak with your child's healthcare professional if you are not sure when to start.
Ciro V2 is suitable from approximately 4 months, when your baby can sit upright unassisted, up to 3 years and a maximum of 15 kg.
What to look for in a highchair
- A tray that works with your table. Ciro V2's tray slides over most standard dining tables, so your little one sits with the family instead of off to the side. It releases with one hand, and its three positions let you bring it closer to reduce spills.
- Surfaces that clean up quickly. The seat is seam-free for an easy, smooth wipe down, and the large, seamless tray liner is dishwasher-safe and minimises gaps where food can collect.
- A harness that grows. A 5-point harness converts to a 3-point buckle for toddlers, with silicone harness material and a magnetic buckle.
- Adjustability. The dual-position footrest rotates 180 degrees to support proper posture.
- Small details. An integrated hook on the back holds up to two bibs.
Choosing between them, or using both
They are made to follow each other. Mira V2 is the one for the months before solids begin. Ciro V2 takes over once your baby is ready to sit at the table. If you are buying for a new baby, the choice is usually about timing: which stage are you in now, and what will you need in three months?
Both are backed by a 3 year warranty, and both are GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions, with FSC-certified wood in the frame.
